Jazz Duo: Rekha Ohal and Dexter Payne

When we are open there’s Jazz! November 4th 7-10pm, La Cour, French Bistro & Jazz Club, presents Rekha Ohal & Dexter Payne.

First Sundays at La Cour are a treat with duo Rekha Ohal & Dexter Payne. They play a variety of music, ranging from Sinatra and Ella to Radiohead and Beck, in a jazz and pop format. A long standing favorite in the Denver scene, Rekha & Dexter are excited to be performing at La Cour monthly.

Clarinetist Dexter Payne has performed from Tijuana to Paris, from Montreal to Buenos Aires. Highly ranked in Downbeat Magazine Readers Poll (2004 & ’06) and 2011 International Blues Challenge winner, Payne is equally at home playing Brazilian choro jazz (modern instrumental spectrum of musica brasileira – choro, samba & nordestina) as he is playing jazz and blues. And yes, you may also find him on the business end of an alto or bari sax, or even blues harp!

Jonathan Saraga Trio

Johnathan Saraga

When we are open there’s Jazz! October 30th 7-10pm, La Cour, French Bistro & Jazz Club, presents  Jonathan Saraga Trio.

Internationally acclaimed trumpeter and composer Jonathan Saraga, will be joined by two ever-popular Colorado greats: bassist Bill McCrosen and drummer Ed Breazeale, to present an evening of jazz standards and original compositions.  The NYC hornman, who has worked with the likes of Steve Coleman, Henry Cole, Darcy James Argue, Orrin Evans, Jimmy Greene, and Tyshawn Sorey to name a few world-class artists, has been said by All About Jazz to play “with the wisdom and maturity of veterans more than twice his age”, and that “his chops, lust for musical life and don’t-box-me-into-a-stylistic-corner mentality make him seem like the musical offspring of trumpeters Dave Douglas and Ambrose Akinmusire.”
Line up
Jonathan Saraga – trumpet
Bill McCrosen – bass
Ed Breazeale – drums
