The Klemm Duo with special guest Travis Kornegay

The Klemm Duo is comprised of Kevin Klemm at the piano and Angela Klemm on Vocals. They hail from the midwest but has made Denver their home since the summer of 2015. Inspired by the growing music scene and the reputation of the Lamont School of Music, the decision to move to Denver was an easy one.

Angela received a Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Akron in Ohio in 2014. She began teaching voice and piano lessons in the depths of her time in undergrad and is now a full time teacher at Avanti Music Academy in Highlands Ranch. Career-driven, Angela became the Head of the Voice department at AMA and has a full studio of voice and piano students during the week.

Kevin earned a B.M. in Piano Performance from the University of Akron in 2015 and just completed his M.M. in Jazz Studies from DU, studying with the ever venerable Eric Gunnison. He opened Kevin Klemm Studio this year and is growing his business in the Denver/Englewood area.

The pair has been involved in musical pursuits together since the beginning and have found that jazz music is what they enjoy performing together. Influenced by music from the turn of the century through the 90s, snippets of Rock ’n Roll, Musical Theater, Motown, Disco and Grunge make frequent appearances in their repertoire.

Travis Kornegay
Travis Kornegay has made an extensive and eclectic career in the music world.  He has spent 22 years in church music, over 10 years teaching at the university and college level, and 10 years teaching in public and charter schools. His influences included, Kevin Mahogany, D’anglo, Steve Wonder,  Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Jill Scott, Bobby McFerrin, Al Jarreau, just to name a few.  He is excited to have the opportunity to work with the Klemm Duo.

Heidi Schmidt

Joy in song. . . inspiration in breath. . . cosmos in chaos. Heidi Schmidt sings from the depths of her being. She has danced with gypsies, shared coffee with Bedouins, sipped tea in the House of Lords, sung jazz for Transylvanian Franciscan monks – her delivery is shaped by rich experience. Heidi launched her professional singing career in Eastern Europe, refined it touring throughout Western Europe, and produced three albums while living in Romania. Now back in hometown Denver, Heidi has won numerous awards and earned a following on the local jazz scene, singing with the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra, the Nice Work Jazz Combo and other ensembles throughout the state.

Silas Adelanke Adeoye – Lagos,Nigeria

“My goal is to present paintings that will promote love and freedom, condemning man’s injustice to man. I live close to Nigeria – Benin Boarder, I see how children are being smuggled into the country for cheap labor every day.” Trafficked Nigerian women and children are recruited from rural areas within the country’s borders − women and girls for involuntary domestic servitude and sexual exploitation, and boys for forced labor in street vending, domestic servitude, mining, and begging.

Duc and Nhung – Hanoi, Vietnam

Vietnam is one of the top source countries for human trafficking victims in Asia and in Europe, Duc and Nhung are helping to change that. The couple owns a gallery in Hanoi where they display their vibrant work. “My art work is about life in Vietnam, landscapes, people where the people try very hard to live and save the life after so many wars,” says Nhung, “with my art, I hope to eliminate the sorrow in the world caused by human trafficking.”

Ba Djibril Ngawa – Nouakchott, Mauritania

In 1981, Mauritania became the last country in the world to officially abolish slavery. It took another 26 years for its government to pass a law enforcing abolition. At Project HARTwork, we believe that art is the antithesis of slavery. “My art is freedom of creation, expression and an invitation to a permanent and endless journey of learning depicting, discovering the invisible and trying to understand the unknown, the mystic.”
