Violinist Julia Hays and guitarist Al Ferguson bring a touch of Parisian sophistication to our weekly Sunday brunch with a collection of songs from Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Richard Rodgers. It just doesn’t get any better than this—great food and drink, a relaxed atmosphere, and romantic tunes from the “Great American Songbook.”  Duo du Jour is with us on the first Sunday of every month. Al Ferguson Jazz Trio

When we are open there’s Jazz!  April 25th  7-10pm, La Cour, French Restaurant & Jazz Club, presents The Al Ferguson Jazz Trio.

With a long history as both leader and sideman in Denver, guitarist AL FERGUSON has absorbed lessons from the great guitar stylists of the past fifty years. You’ll hear hints of Johnny Smith and Barney Kessel in his playing, plenty of Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass, blues influences of Billy Butler and Kenny Burrell, plus the spare sophistication of Jim Hall. Derivative? “Of course, aren’t we all,” says Al. “We find our own way by learning from the masters.” If you like classic jazz guitar, join us for food and drink as we welcome the AL FERGUSON TRIO at La Cour.

The Mike Hyland Jazz Trio

When we are open there’s Jazz! April 24th 7-10pm, La Cour, French Bistro & Jazz Club, presents the Mike Hyland Jazz Trio.

Come join the Mike Hyland Trio as they explore a variety of Jazz standards from the great American songbook as well as some originals and even some Journey.  Witty banter is guaranteed and free of charge.

Mike Hyland is quickly becoming an in demand jazz and rock guitarist in denver.  Playing frequently with his own quartet and trio as well as with the Andy Hackbarth Band.  .

During college, Mike had the opportunity to play with various musician in the Denver metro area. His time at CU also afforded him the honor and transformative experience of studying with the legendary educator and guitarist Dale Bruning. Mr. Bruning became a role model, not just as a guitarist but as a human being.

After graduating from CU, Mike moved to Seattle, where he joined the Hal Sherman Big Band and formed the Mike Hyland Quartet.  Mike moved back to Colorado and earned a Master’s in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy from CU Boulder.  He now lives in Denver where he teaches private guitar lessons at his home studio, Metropolitan State University and the University of Colorado Denver.

Sunday Brunch with Alicia Baker & Alex Heffron

Looking for the best Sunday brunch & Jazz in Denver? Sunday Brunch March 10th 10-2pm, La Cour, French Restaurant & Jazz Club, Alicia Baker & Alex Heffron.

Alicia Baker, has been performing on the accordion professionally for many years with International accordion championship titles under her belt.  Her musical versatility is astounding, performing styles that range from standard jazz and Parisienne cafe, to pop and techno. Alicia’s real uniqueness comes from her classically trained accordion technique in combination with her classically trained voice. She graduated from OSU in 2013 with three bachelor of music degrees; vocal performance, piano performance, and music education.  Originally from Portland, Oregon, Alicia is currently working on her master of music degree in vocal performance and pedagogy at CU Boulder. She also works part-time for Roland Corporation, where she demonstrates digital pianos and accordions all over the country as her schedule permits. Check out her website for recordings and more information: www.aliciajobaker.com 

Alex Heffron is a young guitarist working on becoming fluent in the language of Jazz. He started from a young age working with many great jazz educators. Currently a student at the University of Colorado Boulder, he is working on developing his skills as a Jazz and Classical guitar player. This project will be presenting many of his original compositions as well as songs that have inspired him during the years he has had to hone his craft.

Alicia and Alex make a dynamite duo between their individual mastery of accordion and guitar. They love to play jazz standards, gypsy jazz, and parisiene-inspired music. The two are well known in Boulder amongst the jazz jam scene.

When we are open there’s Jazz! January 9th 7-10pm, La Cour, French Restaurant & Jazz Club, presents the  Liam Broderick Trio.

Join jazz-guitarist and Colorado native Liam Broderick for a night of original and standard compositions. The Liam Broderick Trio features Gabe Rupe on Bass, Aleks Girshevich on Drums,   — all of whom have been nationally recognized for their instrumental achievements in jazz. Excited to return to La Cour after continued studies and performing at Columbia University in NYC , Liam looks forward to presenting a set of music inspired and informed by the experiences of the past years.
