About the Paleolithic String Trio:
Guitarists Howard Slavin and Doug Switzer have been making music together for over two decades. Active in the jazz community they have in individually performed in many settings from duos to big bands.

Howard’s credits include:
The Paleolithic Jazz Quartet (PJQ), SoBo Jazz Quartet, Colorado Jazz Workshop, Jazz Port Townsend Participant Big Band, William and the Romantics,
UNC Greeley Jazz Festival

Doug’s credits include
The Peneplan Jazz Project, Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Colorado Jazz Workshop, Carnival Cruise Lines, Blue River Bistro – Breckenridge CO, Dazzle
Jazz, Broadmoor, Keystone and Denver Convention Centers, UNC Greeley Jazz Fest, Westin Hotel

For this project they are joined by bassist Greg Clough, Greg has his Bachelors in Music Ed. from Illinois State University and currently teaches elementary music in Denver Public Schools. He plays with the Colorado Jazz Workshop, the Arapahoe Philharmonic and Just a Girl, a “No Doubt” tribute band. In 2001 Howard and Doug produced a CD of guitar duets entitled “Bob, Blues and Bossa”, believing that the duo offers a format that is unique in music. It gives the player a level of freedom that is not possible in larger groups and provides the backing that is missing in solo performance. The opportunity for interaction and dialog can be remarkable. Whenever they are able to share it Howard and Doug revisit the joy of that duo experience. Here, the feature of an additional bass brings, depth and warmth.

Making jazz as accessible as possible and helping keep the Denver Jazz Scene ALIVE!

Linda Theus-Lee’s musical journey has been on a continuum since a very young age. A native of Los Angeles, California and born into a musical family her musical roots started early by studying dance and theatre, and by watching her older siblings create music with original ideas and creative expressions. Theus-Lee, first love was dancing, but then as time moved on she found herself with the love of singing. She says “I’ve always had an affinity to sing and create at a young age.” She feels that her passion and style is a gift from God that needs to be embraced, and celebrated.

Having toured the world wherever her voice took her, she arrived in Denver 16 years ago. She has played throughout Denver, including performing the National Anthem at the Pepsi Center for the Denver Nuggets, her one woman show entitled “Rea’s Story” at the Crossroads Theatre, and even opened for Kenny “BabyFace” Edmonds when he performed at the Grant Amphitheater in Clement Park in Littleton, Colorado 2011.

Theus-Lee’s musical creativity lives in vocal Jazz, Blues, Musical Theatre and R&B. In addition she is also a very talented percussionist, and loves writing songs on her guitar. She loves family and friends and holds a Master of Social Science degree with emphasis in Education and Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver. Linda’s ongoing commitment is to empower students about how important they are, and about the importance of education in their lives!

Patrick Lee Trio

On any given night with the Patrick Lee Trio, you’ll find them chasing the spirit of the hard swinging ’50s & ’60s classic piano trios: chaining together tunes by Dave Brubeck, Ahmad Jamal, and Oscar Peterson alongside a string of their own daring originals. The demand for Lee’s music has led to independent radio play from Santa Barbara (KCSB 91.9) to Tokyo (Radio Forest 76.3) as well as a featured artist segment on NPR’s Here & Now. Lee is a Colorado native, a graduate of CU’s jazz department, and teaches piano at Metropolitan State in Denver. He has also released over 30 albums of music influenced by sampling culture, cassettes, records, collages, field recordings, hip-hop, and electronic music.
