When we are open there’s Jazz! April 26th 7-10pm, La Cour, French Bistro & Jazz Club, presents The Julie Monley Jazz Trio.

Julie Monley is originally from Denver, Colorado.

After several years of classical studies, she devoted herself to jazz.

She worked nearly ten years in America notably with saxophonists George Keith and Phil Urso, pianist and composer Joe Bonner, and Peruvian guitarist Manuel Molina. In London she worked with Welsh guitarist Dylan Fowler and drummer Tony Crombie.

After moving to Paris, France in 1986, she won the best vocalist prize at the 1987 “Jazz Festival de Vienne.” In 1995, she won second prize at “Tremplin Jazz du Val d’Oise” competing with 185 groups of amateurs and professional musicians from throughout Europe.

In August 1998, Julie moved back to Denver with her French husband the jazz pianist Frédéric Desmoulins and is currently singing in various clubs, and studying classical voice.

Julie’s repertoire is original and eclectic, covering the work of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stevie Wonder and Miles Davis.

Julie will be joined by jazz pianist Frédéric Desmoulins and bassist Ron Bland.

Looking for the best Sunday brunch & Jazz in Denver? Sunday Brunch March 10th 10-2pm, La Cour, French Restaurant & Jazz Club, Alicia Baker & Alex Heffron.

Alicia Baker, has been performing on the accordion professionally for many years with International accordion championship titles under her belt.  Her musical versatility is astounding, performing styles that range from standard jazz and Parisienne cafe, to pop and techno. Alicia’s real uniqueness comes from her classically trained accordion technique in combination with her classically trained voice. She graduated from OSU in 2013 with three bachelor of music degrees; vocal performance, piano performance, and music education.  Originally from Portland, Oregon, Alicia is currently working on her master of music degree in vocal performance and pedagogy at CU Boulder. She also works part-time for Roland Corporation, where she demonstrates digital pianos and accordions all over the country as her schedule permits. Check out her website for recordings and more information: www.aliciajobaker.com 

Alex Heffron is a young guitarist working on becoming fluent in the language of Jazz. He started from a young age working with many great jazz educators. Currently a student at the University of Colorado Boulder, he is working on developing his skills as a Jazz and Classical guitar player. This project will be presenting many of his original compositions as well as songs that have inspired him during the years he has had to hone his craft.

Alicia and Alex make a dynamite duo between their individual mastery of accordion and guitar. They love to play jazz standards, gypsy jazz, and parisiene-inspired music. The two are well known in Boulder amongst the jazz jam scene.

Tea for Two is a jazz-inspired duo, featuring Stacey Riley on vocals and Brendan Bondurant on guitar. If you enjoy a vintage jazz sound with a world music twist, you’ll love their set list of swingin’ standards, sexy French music, breezy Latin jazz, and low-key pop tunes. For this special performance, they have invited saxophonist Jeff Miguel to join in fun, adding a perfect compliment to the warm ambiance they create. Come enjoy a cozy Sunday evening with Tea for Two!
