Highly ranked in Downbeat Magazine Readers Poll (2004 & ’06) and 2011 International Blues Challenge winner, Payne is equally at home playing Brazilian choro jazz (modern instrumental spectrum of musica brasileira – choro, samba & nordestina) as he is playing jazz and blues. And yes, you may also find him on the business end of an alto or bari sax, or even blues harp!
